Stars And Muscle Cars

Steve McQueen drove the 1968 Ford Mustang GT Fastback in the movie “Bullitt.” The influence of this movie started a craze of muscle cars that lasted a half decade and the automakers were pumping out the cars as quick as possible. Steve McQueen not only drove fast cars in the movies but had his own private vehicles. Of course, each car was fast and sleek for top of the line performance. The DeLorean DMC 12 was driven in the 1985 movie “Back To The Future.” Michael J. Fox drove the faded Irish sports car and was able to break the laws of quantum physics to travel through time. The car was modified with a flux capacitor and a nuclear generator and had to travel at exactly 88 mph to break the time barrier.

Roger Moore as Simon Templar drove a 1962 Volvo P 1800 in the television series “The Saint.” An ironic twist caused by the use of this car ticked off some of the British carmakers. Jaguar was asked to use one of their cars but the company thought the program would not last long and so they declined. After the show became a hit, Jaguar held ill feelings toward the Swedish car company. “The Dukes of Hazard” had their own style with the General Lee, a 1969 Dodge Charger. The doors were welded and a large confederate flag was painted on the side of this cool speedster. The 1982 modified Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was driven by David Hasselhoff in Knight Rider. Muscle cars are great and no one enjoys them better than celebrities and their already fast-paced lives.
