Muscles and Their Cars

We all love muscles. Muscular bodies, muscular animals, muscle magazines, and of course, muscle cars. Beginning with Pontiac in 1964, muscle cars have been the excitement of a life time for many. Not to be confused with the expensive and hard to find sports cars, muscle cars are purely the work of handy car technicians and engineers to turn your average car into your not so average race car.

Built with the need for speed, these cars have been known to race officially and unofficially since the 1970s. They began to be seen in the hands of young drivers with the need for speed as they raced down straight-a-ways in search of someone to take them on. Coined phrases such as, “zero to sixty in…” have been used on a daily basis to describe these racers with V-8 engines.

It seems like muscle cars have brought with them a certain sex appeal. Women love to see a man who knows how to handle power, and the older the car the better. If it shines and roars and whips through the wind it turns the heart and maybe more on for many women. Even better is when unexpectedly a woman is driving, and then the men melt.

It is not uncommon to see a woman driving a muscle car anymore, not like it may have been when Grease was thriving in the hearts of youngsters. Women and men alike use these legendary cars to exemplify freedom and fearlessness. It is the feeling of power behind the wheel that will continue to make muscle cars such as Pontiacs from the seventies such a hit.
