Thinking back to movies over the years, there often seems to be a muscle car involved in the plot line somewhere, doesn’t it? Way back to the movie, “Grease” where the 1948 Ford took center stage. On into later years with Kit, the muscle car extraordinaire in the Knight Rider stories. How about the “Batmobile” which is a muscle car in its own right.
A fantastic one at that. Check out the movie, “Back to the Future” and do you remember what car that was? It was the Delorean, the car where the doors opened up rather than out, like normal cars do. Steve McQueen starring in the movie "Bullitt" used a 390 GT Mustang as his muscle car. In this movie he hunted down villains and engaged in an infamous car chase with his dark green mustang muscle car. Even the small Mini Cooper was used as a muscle car, in fact three of them in the movie, “The Italian.”
Remember how neat these three identical mini’s were when they wheeled in and out of traffic to make it to the train in time to foil the bad guys? Fantastic! James Bond had an array of muscle cars used in his films as well. To name a couple, the Aston Martin Vanquish, Lotus Esprit and the BMW. Also, do you remember the Pontiac Trans Am used in the “Smokey and the Bandit” movies? All were such wonderful muscle cars, they certainly deserved to be high lighted as they were.
