The fast, powerful muscle cars of yesterday are making a comeback in a big way. And what exactly is a muscle car? It is the ultimate dream of those who love speed - a mid-sized car with as big an engine as can be managed.

Muscle cars are American cars made with V8 engines in them, designed to go fast. The cars that were made in the 60s and 70s were actually priced for everyday use. They were first made with a moderate size body and a large V8; most of them had two doors. They came out with different styles and a variety of names. They would add headers and other gadgets to make them sound the way they wanted them to run - loud and fast. The bigger the engine, the faster they would run, and the better people liked them. The Chevy Camaro SS and the z28 were some of the greatest muscle cars of their time. They came out with quite a few in the 60s and 70s and then they slowly started to dwindle away. The last few years, they have tried to make a comeback with the Chevelle, Mustang, and Camaro. A lot of the older muscle cars are now kept as collectibles; they are shined up and shown off.

Muscle cars were a great thing to have and race in the 60s and 70s. You could take one of these powerhouses to a drag strip and race for cash prizes or trophies. Muscle cars today still make for a hot ride and a great time.
