The Muscle Car is Still on Top

Owning a muscle car these days is quite a treat, depending on the car and the year it was built. Muscle cars are still as popular as they were when they first came on the market in the late 60s and early 70s. The muscle car is a high performance vehicle manufactured during this time frame. Another part of the aspect is that the car should be a two door midsized car and also have rear wheel drive. When the cars first came on the market, they were sold at affordable prices.

The muscle cars of yesterday that are sold today are quite different in price. In today's market, a muscle car can fetch thousands of dollars. Muscle cars were built for the street, but were also used for drag racing. For the most part, a muscle car is described as an American car with lots of power and a light weight. One of the great muscle cars on the roads is the Pontiac GTO. This is a car that can run a great race. Out of the showroom, a GTO could go 60 MPH in under one second.

Muscle cars of the past years are still very desirable today and can be found just about anywhere. However, there are not many that are still manufactured, due to regulations against certain features that defined the cars. The Ford Mustang is another muscle car that commanded respect years ago, and still does today. Although current Mustangs are not quite the same as the Mustangs that first appeared during the muscle car era, they are the closest thing we have to them today.
